Girls' Group Sessions
I am pleased to offer bi-weekly group sessions for high school-aged girls at the Herne Centre in Herne Bay. These one-hour sessions provide a dedicated space for girls to discuss any issues they may be experiencing, whether related to home, school, relationships, or other aspects of their lives.
Group Structure
Participants will sit in a circle, allowing each member the opportunity to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable regarding any challenges they are facing. Following this sharing, all members will engage in a brief activity designed to support personal growth and well-being outside of the group setting.
Group sessions offer a valuable opportunity to explore feelings without entering into formal counselling. They allow participants to hear from others about their experiences and coping strategies, fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
Each session will last one hour. At the beginning of each group, participants are reminded to respect one another’s confidentiality. However, given the nature of group work, it is advised that members refrain from disclosing sensitive information that they do not wish to be shared outside the group. If a participant wishes to discuss a sensitive topic, they may do so privately with the group leader, who can bring up the issue without identifying the individual.
Refreshments, including drinks and snacks, will be provided during the session. Parents and carers are welcome to stay with their child if they wish.
While these sessions are free, contributions toward hall rental and refreshments are appreciated. A donation pot will be available during sessions for those who are able to contribute. Due to limited spaces, sign-up is essential. Attendance at every session is not required, but regular participation is encouraged for optimal support. Please ensure you sign in upon arrival.
