Running two weekly from the Herne Centre in Herne Bay, A one hour group session for girls of high school age. These sessions are a dedicated space for girls to come and discuss with other girls any issues they may be experiencing. This can be from any area of their life, such as home, school, relationships, and much more.
The group lay out; Sitting around in a circle each member of the group will be given the opportunity to speak as little or as much as they want about any topic that they are struggling with. All participants will then spend a short time completing an activity with the aim of supporting themselves outside of the group.
Groups are a great way to explore your feelings without entering into counselling. They are an opportunity to hear other peoples experiences, how they have handled struggles, and explore their own feelings about what they are processing.
Each group will take place over an hour and all members are asked at the start of each session to respect one another's confidentiality, however due to the nature of group work, it is suggested members do not disclose anything that may be to upsetting to handle, and things they do not want leaving the group, as this is not a counselling session we cannot guarantee confidentiality. If however a member of the group does want to bring a sensitive topic this can be shared with the group provider and she can bring the subject without naming the person.
There will be drinks and snacks for all members during the session. Parents/carers are welcome to stay with their child if they wish.
Although these sessions are free, I do have to pay for hall rental and the cost of snacks and drinks, there is a donation pot on the table during the session for anyone who is able to donate towards the costs. Sign up is essential due to limited spaces. You do not have to attend every session, but it is recommended to gain the best support. Please ensure you sign in on arrival.
